Where is it going?

Instagram post (portrait): 1080 × 1350 px. Instagram shows feed photos 1080 px wide. Its help page allows portrait photos up to 4:5 (newer versions of the page allow up to 3:4); 4:5 fits either, so nothing is cropped.

How to resize a photo for social media

    1. Add your photo, or share it to Picsawa from your gallery.
    2. Tap where it is going, for example “Instagram 4:5” or “Story 9:16”, then drag the box to frame it.

About the Social Media Image Resizer tool

Every size comes with its source: the platform’s own help page where it states one (Instagram, LinkedIn, X, YouTube), and marked as a common size where it doesn’t (stories, WhatsApp and Telegram profile photos, Facebook covers). Apps change their layouts, so the sources are checked again every year.

The photo is cropped to the exact shape, then resized to the exact pixel size and saved as a high-quality JPG, which every app accepts. For profile photos, a circle shows what the app will display.

Your photo stays on your device: nothing is uploaded, and there is no watermark.

    Frequently asked questions

What size is an Instagram post?

Instagram shows feed photos 1080 pixels wide. A portrait post of 1080 × 1350 (4:5) uses the most screen space and is never cropped; a square post is 1080 × 1080.

What size is a story, WhatsApp Status or TikTok photo?

The full-screen phone shape, 9:16. The common size is 1080 × 1920 pixels, which the “Story 9:16” preset makes.

What size should a WhatsApp profile photo be?

WhatsApp doesn’t publish a size, and shows profile photos as a circle. The “Profile photo” preset makes a 640 × 640 square and shows the circle, so you can keep your face inside it.

Why is my Facebook cover cut off on phones?

Phones show only the middle part of the cover. Keep faces and text away from the left and right edges; the preset is the shape covers are usually made in, at twice the size so it stays sharp.

    Will the photo lose quality?

It is saved as a high-quality JPG at the exact size the app shows, so the app has less reason to shrink or recompress it. If your photo is smaller than the preset, it is enlarged and may look softer.

    Are my photos uploaded?

No. Everything happens on your device, and the photo is never sent anywhere.
