About the Sharpen & Denoise tool
Noise reduction uses an edge-preserving filter: flat areas like skin and sky become smoother while edges stay sharp. Sharpening then uses an unsharp mask that ignores tiny differences, so it enhances real detail without amplifying the remaining noise.
Sharpening can make a slightly soft photo look crisp, but it cannot recover a photo that is badly out of focus or shaken. For small images, try the AI upscaler, which also restores detail.
Frequently asked questions
Can this fix a blurry photo?
It helps with mild softness, such as slight focus misses or downscaled images. Strong motion blur or a completely out-of-focus photo cannot be fully recovered.
Why does noise reduction come first?
Sharpening amplifies fine texture, including noise. Reducing noise first gives a cleaner, more natural result.
What settings should I use?
Start with Sharpen 50% and Reduce noise 25%. For night photos, raise noise reduction; for clean daylight photos, set it to 0.
Are my photos uploaded?
